Telstra Number Redirection Validation Tool is a search facility for determining the following information when relevant 'Search' data is entered in the 'Old Number' or 'New Number' fields:
  • Standard Zone Unit (SZU)
  • Charging Zone (CZ)
  • Call Charge
  • Number Owning Carrier

Search

A 'Search' can be performed by entering valid 'Search by' criteria in one or both of the:
  • 'Old Number' field
    old service to be cancelled and provided as a Number Redirection service
  • 'New Number' field
    new destination service that the old number is to be redirected to
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: The old 'Search by' fields must be cleared using the 'Clear' button prior to entering new search data.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Full National Number means a 10 digit Geographic Number and excludes Mobile and Inbound (e.g. 12, 13, 1300, 18, 1800 and 19) Numbers.

'Search by' criteria are:
  • Exchange Code
    a 4 alpha exchange code as shown in START to be entered in the 'Exchange Code' field
  • FNN
    a 10 digit Full National Number inserted without a prefix or spaces to be entered in the Full National Number field

Search Results

'Search Results' that can be presented are:
  • ESA
    the Exchange Service Area code for the Old and New Full National Numbers. The code is derived from the CHARMS database and may differ from the Exchange Code derived from START. For provisioning purposes, always refer to the Exchange code derived from START.
  • ESA Not Assigned
    this message will be presented when either the Old or New Full National Number is not yet available on the Telstra network. Proceed with a Porting request.
  • SZU
    the Standard Zone Unit for the Old and New Full National Numbers. Outside the SZU boundaries, simultaneous call restriction will apply.
  • Charging Zone (CZ)
    the Charging Zone for the Old and New Full National Numbers. Outside CZ, call charges (B-C leg) will apply
  • Call Charge from ………………to…………………
    the call charges applicable for Number Redirecton are:
    a) No Charge - old and new inside SZU - no SCR applies
    b) No Charge - old and new outside SZU but inside CZ - SCR applies
    c) Local Call - old and new in adjacent CZ - SCR applies
    d) STD Call - old and new in different CZ - SCR applies
    e) Mobile - fixed to mobile charge - SCR applies
    Note: When service option is announcement only, no call charges and no SCR applies.
  • Number Owning Carrier
    name of carrier who was the issuer of the Old or New Full National Number. This does not mean the number is connected to the number owning carrier network.
    NOTE: Number Owning Carrier information is only presented if a search is performed on the Full National Number

Additional Information

A pop-up message will be presented when a search is performed on a New Full National Number that is the Destination Number of an existing Number Redirection service:
"Number Redirection is not available on this Full National Number. This number is the destination number of an existing Number Redirection service".

Error Messages

The following actions can cause error messages to be displayed:
  • Entering an invalid Full National Number
  • Entering an invalid Exchange Code
If you get an error message using one of these check the information you are entering.
